SHRI B.K.S. IYENGAR (Guruji)

BKS Iyengar was a living legend and one of the world’s leading teachers of yoga. He was one of the first to introduce yoga to the West. He was born 14th December 1918 and grew up in the village of Bellur in the Kolar District of the southern Indian state of Karnataka.
He started teaching at the age of 18 in Pune and established the ‘Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute’. where many of his thousands of students go to visit year after year.
Dear Guruji passed away August 2014, he was in his 96th year. He will be sorely missed but lives on in each of us through the practice of yoga that he gave to us.
